The theme for our ‪‎travel pics this week is F, for Flowers.

Today’s pic is of the Tacca Chantrieri, or Black Bat flower.

They apparently grow well in Australia, and I have seen one in a botanical gardens in Cairns, but this one I spotted in the San Francisco Flower Conservatory, in Golden Gate Park, during our first visit to the city.

Besides looking a little like a bat, I can’t shake off their resemblance to some sort of evil alien life-form that sneaks into your darkened house and wraps you up as you sleep. But maybe that’s just me. Pleasant dreams, boys and girls! 🙂
