The theme for our travel pics this week is C for Churches..
Today, we are in England – at Salisbury Cathedral.
This church is more than 750 years old, and is one of the best remaining examples of Early English Gothic architecture.
It’s only about 15km from what may have been an earlier religious monument, Stonehenge, and is just as impressive, in its own way.
This is the West Front – check out the niches containing statues. Apparently, they range from Archangels at the top to bible figures, and then bishops, priests, and local worthies on the lower levels.
You can’t see here, because this is an exterior shot, but the inside of the church is also amazing – and I’m told the Tower Tour up the central spire is amazing. In fact, this is the highest spire in the UK.
