The theme for our travel pics this week is J, for Jungles (and rainforests) – and to start us off, Bamboo Creek at Innisfail, in Far North Queensland.
Innisfail’s a small town about an hour south of the much-better-known Cairns, and is at the heart of what they call “The Great Green Way”.
It is certainly worth spending a few hours if you are in the region – it has some great Art Deco architecture, memorials to the Italian canecutters who helped establish the region, and some easily accessible examples of rainforest – like this walk along Bamboo Creek – just metres from the local K-Mart and McDonald’s restaurant.
Certainly a different view to many similar small towns world-wide.
