The theme for our travel pics this week is A – for Antigua – and this was taken as we steered our sea-kayaks around mangroves, and over the shallow coral reefs nearby.
We’d already been for a hike up the hill at Bird Island, and a snorkel amongst the coral just off shore – but this time, we were staying above the water.
If you’ve ever tried to wade or swim where there are mangrove swamps, you’ll know it’s not a pretty experience – besides being mighty painful if you scrape along the upturned roots.
But the coral here was just below the surface – which is how our guides managed to pick up this starfish, and pass it to my sister Lorraine.
