Travel Pics Theme: E for Eating. Vietnam garnishes

Table decoration Vietnamese style

The theme for our ‪‎travel pics this week is E, for Eating.

We’ve just returned from a two week trip to Vietnam – and as part of the holiday, we did a cookery class near Hoi An, making Cha Gio (fried spring rolls) and Banh Xeo (fried Vietnamese pancakes with shrimp, pork, bean sprouts and egg), and Ga Xao Sa (Vietnamese lemongrass chicken).

But we were also encouraged to try our hand at creating garnishes – like this tomato-skin rose, on an onion island, with shallots as palm trees and carrot flowers.

A couple of the carrot flowers are mine – but I have to say, the palm trees and rose were beyond my rudimentary skills.
