The theme for our ‪‎travel pics this week is L for London  – for Tuesday, it’s Buckingham Palace.

It used to be that you could get up-close and personal with these guards – but these days, the gates are firmly closed, and this image was shot between the bars of the fence.

Originally built as a townhouse for the Duke of Buckingham, it was taken over by the royal family and became the principal London residence of Queen Victoria, and then her heirs and successors, including the current Queen.
