The theme letter for our ‪‎travel pics this week is up to Q – so we’ve chosen Quiet Reflections.

Noumea, in New Caledonia, is on the itinerary of almost every cruise ship sailing the South Pacific.

And its probably fair to say it’s not the favourite port for many .. in fact, lots of passengers don’t even bother going ashore.

But there are some truly beautiful sights in Noumea, such as this one from the Ouen Toro lookout.

It’s breathtaking. But it also has a poignant history.

This spot is the site of gun emplacements built to protect the city during World War Two – a reminder that this tropical paradise has had more than its share of invasions and conflicts.
