The theme letter for our travel pics this week is up to Q – so we’ve chosen Quiet Reflections.
To me, Cannery Row at Monterey Bay in California was always about Steinbeck, and his reflections on the flotsam and jetsam of society that was washed up on its shores.
But then I went to Cannery Row – and more importantly, to the Monterey Bay Aquarium – and I fell in love with a whole new side to Monterey.
The Aquarium is an astounding resource, full of fascinating exhibits – including jellyfish.
These amazing creatures have no brain, no bones, no sentience … but they are an essential part of the ecosystem, and are just plain beautiful to boot.
