The theme letter for our travel pics this week is R – for Railways.
To start the week off, a station that looks like a classic ‘Victorian’ structure – but with state-of-the-art 21st century trains.
Gare du Nord, or North Station, is the busiest station in Europe – and is the station for trains to Northern France and to international destinations in Belgium, Germany, the Netherlands, and the United Kingdom.
It carries 190 million passengers a year, and is the Paris location for the Eurostar – the cross-channel tunnel train that runs from London, via Paris, to Brussels.
Built in the 1860s, it is a train buff’s delight.
