The theme for our travel pics this week is N for Night Scenes.
For Friday, it’s a Good Friday scene in Santo Domingo, the capital of the Dominican Republic.
The sun had just gone down on Good Friday in Zona Colonial, the old centre of the oldest Catholic city in the ‘new world’.
Shirley and I had just had a bite of dinner, and had gone for a stroll (without our cameras) when we came across a procession of locals, beating drums, wearing Roman Centurian outfits or stylised Cardinal’s cassocks, carrying crosses and candles and bearing a bier that bore the body of Jesus.
We only had our mobile phones with us … but we whipped them out and got some images in the gloom like this.
