The theme letter for our travel pics this week is T, for Thailand
Wednesday’s photo is of a marketplace that could have been taken anywhere in Thailand – and in fact, in any one of a number of locations across the Asia-Pacific.
This particular one was at Karon Plaza, a collection of stalls on the waterfront at Karon beach – standing on ground where another market had been obliterated in the tsunami of 2004, two years before this picture was taken.
Like all such markets, its a mixture of bric-a-brac, geegaws and gimcracks – cheap and cheerful souvenirs, knock-offs and the like – and a fascinating place to browse.
